The birth of this club came when Elena Runyan began her quest to learn more. After taking a course at Bellevue College, she wanted to spread the culture and allow others the opportunity to learn more about the culture and language of those around the world. Because despite geographical location as a boundary for language, the only boundary between English and Sign Language is yourself.
Why Sign Language?
Many will wonder why Sign Language? What is the difference between sign language and English other than hand motions? American Sign Language is a language. And like all languages, it has a community and a culture. ASL has it's own grammar, its own tone, its own alphabet. We as a club intend on promoting and bringing awareness to these things that many don't consider.
